This renovation and expansion project modified a 1960’s suburban-style facade with a 2-story addition, pool, patio, and courtyard. The building is designed to respond to the urban character of its midtown Sacramento neighborhood and eclectic clientele. The project features three dance floors, sixteen bars, and two patios.
The second floor includes a stainless steel and glass dance floor and exposed steel building frame, creating an industrial, back-stage atmosphere. A grand staircase and mezzanine level gallery provide places for patrons to see and be seen. Responding to Sacramento’s hot, dry climate, the main bar and back balcony face an enclosed patio with a pool with deck lounges. Large operable skylights above the main dance floor vent excess heat, reducing air conditioning loads.
The rear patio is enclosed by a privacy wall with mesh panels so that passers by can glimpse poolside patrons. Large windows to the patio and street provide a connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.
The front facade was modified with a new steel and glass entry tower featuring prominent graphics and neon lighting.
